Congrats to WGL travel scholarship winners!
In late 2012, the Board of Directors for the ASPRS Western Great Lakes announced a new scholarship program designed to help offset travel costs for graduate and undergraduate students interested in attending national conferences. This year, we received applications from eight highly-qualified students who attend universities in our region. We were thrilled to see so much interest in the first formal year of the program!
The winners for the 2013 program are:
Peng Fu - Indiana State University
Ioakeim Tellidis - Michigan Tech University
Lian Rampi - University of Minnesota
Each student will receive up to $500 to offset travel costs to a national conference focused on remote sensing or photogrammetry.
The travel scholarship program was made possible in large part thanks to the funding received by the WGL Region for successfully hosting the 2011 ASPRS National conference in Milwaukee.

2013 Annual Dinner
Many thanks go out to the 39 people that attended our WGL annual dinner at The Machine Shed restaurant in Lake Elmo, MN on January 31. Paul Morin (University of Minnesota Polar Geospatial Center) and Mike Hoppus (Minnesota Department of Natural Resources) provided great talks for the audience. As always, we welcome any feedback on how we can make the event even better in the future!
